About the SCELC Oxford Agreement

This open access agreement enables authors at the participating institutions to publish articles using an open access license at reduced or no cost in more than 500 hybrid and fully open access OUP journals.

Authors with grant funds available pay a subsidized open access publishing fee across OUP’s hybrid and fully open access journals. Authors who do not have grant funds available can publish open access in hybrid open access journals at no cost to them.

Multi-payer OA Funding Workflow

  1. Corresponding author indicates primary affiliation with an eligible institution at submission
  2. Author receives email with link to online licensing and payment system (SciPris) when their article is accepted for publication
  3. Author creates/logs in to SciPris account (separate from submission system)
  4. Hybrid Journal Article Process | Enhanced hybrid journal open funding workflow (pdf)
    1. Author chooses an open access license (or opts out of Open Access)
    2. For OA articles, the $1000 subsidy covered by the library subscription is applied automatically 
    3. Author specifies whether funding is available to pay the APC
      1. When funding is available, author specifies details to pay the remainder of the APC
      2. When no grant funding is available, the library subscription covers the full cost
  5. Fully OA Journal Article Process | Enhanced fully open journal funding workflow (pdf)
    1. Author chooses an open access license
    2. The $750 subsidy covered by the library subscription is applied automatically
    3. Author specifies payment details to pay the remainder of the APC
